Life Skills

There is a lot more to leaving home, whether that is to go to University, to start a job or set up your own accommodation, than packing a suitcase. Even if you continue to live at home while you study or work, your responsibilities will change. Importantly, many people suddenly find that they cannot cook, budget, do the washing, or collect a parcel from the post office. Sometimes, parents aren’t the best people to teach these skills. When we’re not running CoomberSewell Enterprises, we offer supported living to three autistic young men, so we have developed ways to share these skills, including spreadsheets, routines and shortcuts. There are some practical skills you may always find hard (one of our staff still cannot load a dishwasher), but we can help you improve them radically.
